Who can forget the ever-important Vitamin C? Now we all know that Vitamin C, when taken orally frequently, can help boost our immunity, keeping our bodies healthy.
So what role does Vitamin C play in skincare?
A huge one in fact, as studies have shown that topical application of Vitamin C is a potential skin remedy with many benefits.
Firstly, Vitamin C is an effective anti-oxidant, and helps prevent damage of the skin due to free radicals. When applied topically, Vitamin C stimulates synthesis of collagen (connective tissue on the lower layers of our skin which helps give our skin strength and elasticity). It also helps to regulate production of melanin (that causes dark spots on the face), so that skin tone evens out.
In LifeCellskin formula, Vitamin C has been combined with palmitic acid, forming what we call Ascorbyl Palmitate. This substance is stable and non-irritating to the skin, so it is much more effective than Vitamin C only, without any possible harmful effects.
The next ingredient we will focus on is DMAE. In Europe, the product name Deanol has been used for DMAE for more than three decades. In the market, Deanol is available as a dietary supplement to enhance cognitive functioning, as well as reducing fatigue and depression.
In anti-ageing treatments, Deanol is thought to help in the stimulation of acetylcholine, a chemical in our bodies involved in muscle contraction. Higher levels of acetylcholine in our bodies translate to firmer muscle tone and hence firm (and not saggy) skin.
There have been studies showing that subjects who applied Deanol topically on the face showed significant improvement in their skin appearance and the reduction of forehead-frown lines. An animal study has shown that Deanol contains no toxicity and is non-allergenic to the skin.
Deanol is incorporated in a few other anti-ageing products, and of course in LifeCellskin too!
We have looked at the two of the many active ingredients in the LifeCell treatment, namely Vitamin C and Deanol. Both of them have been widely used in other anti-ageing products, as their benefits have been reported of in studies and research.
Trust the science, won’t you?
